Tuesday 2:00 pm from Würzburg, Am Hubland
Please be there 15 minutes before we leave.
Würzburg people are also invited to join. Please register, if you want to participate in the Röntgen Exhibition, the Dinner, or the guided Nachtwächter city tour on Monday.
Labtours and theory talks can be booked spontaneously.
The program includes lab tours, theory talks, a visit of the famous Röntgen Exhibition, and a guided Nachtwächter city tour(Meeting point: Obelisk at the market square in Würzburg).
Lab Tours
EP2: Visit our Scanning Tunneling Microscopy labs where we investigate magnetic, super conducting and topological properties on the atomic scale. Get insitghts into UHV chambers, sample preparation, growth and measuring under ultra cold conditions.
EP3: Insights into ITI - visiting the Institute for Topological Insulators
EP4: Silicon carbide substrate preparation by hydrogen etching, growth of Bismuthene and analysis via Scanning Tunneling Microscopy.

The lab tour will cover nano-fabrication and characterization of plasmonic nanoantennas.
This will include how nanometer-precise structures are fabricated from monocrystalline gold platelets and how we can characterize these structures using a combination of atomic force microscopy and confocal microscopy.

TEP: Cleanroom facilities The cleanroom tour takes you to the 'Gottfried-Landwehr-Labor für Nanotechnologie'. See the complete semiconductor process line, and experience the environment, in which we fabricate nanoscale optoelectronic devices for applied and fundamental research.
TEP: Optical & electric spectroscopy labs See where and how we control single-quanta of light, switch transistors in and out of the topologically insulating phase, or create quantum fluids of light.

To improve contact between Würzburg and Dresden and simplify the possibility of new collaborations, there is the QMA Bridge. Bridge stands for: Building Reflecting Inspiring Developing Generating Exchanging This is also the intention of our short exchange program. It will take place once a semester and alternate between Würzburg and Dresden. The focus is on laboratory tours and insights into theory, but also on getting to know colleagues and the city in which they live and work.
